With 100 watts of drive my SX would do 3000 watts out on 75 meters, which is all I cared about.
You could turn a TS-940S up to 150 watts and did not seem to bother them. It would do 4000 PEP with the internal transformer.  No other reason to turn a TS-940S up. I got away with it for a long time.
So, that is what mine did in to a Nye Viking RF Power monitor which I still use.

And, when you have WB2OTK 3 kHz up and K4OKA 3 kHz down having a war with each other....

They destroyed 3.898 which was a good frequency with some really smart hams back in the 80's.

A couple of us were pretty hard headed about it and just stayed.

Splattering on 75 meters at night was just the way of things.  Not like anybody was going to miss any DX over it.

I had a friend of mine who drove an LK800 TNY with 150 watts and it would do 5200 watts on a Bird. I "seen" it.

We were never accused of good amateur practice.

The Commander HF2500E, early version with 3 x pulse rated 800s) would easily do 5kw as well.

I think Rich Measures "Plywood Box" took the cake.  14 grand out the snout with a 68lb Dahl.  Damn Dahl made good xformers when Pete was alive.  I cherish my 12KVA Dahl.  I've run some pretty big tubes on it and was fairly amazed at what it would do.  A peak reading current meter showed the 3A CCS rating was doubled on peaks!

Nobody else today can compare, sans commercial power transformers manufacturers.  WZ1M (SK)also made some good ones, but he retired.  I have one of his filament xformers in my 8170 amplifier.  Supposedly someone bought everything from Gary Lock, Stock and Barrel...  And then fell on bad health themselves.

"Transformer Rewinding
We have purchased Transformer Rewinding Service (TRS), previously owned and operated by Gary Brown out of Maine.

Sadly, after purchasing the TRS business, I had a heart attack and my day job travel has increased a lot.  The combination means I’m not able to take on this work at this time.  I am working with a partner to hopefully get something going in the near future, we will update this page when that happens."  This taken from BlueGlow Electronics.

Harder and harder to find decent components.
