Galaxy GT-550 Transceiver

I read that the band switch can be a real problem.  Prone to failures and impossible to find.  What are your experiences?

Hi,

I have a Galaxy 5, the predecessor to the GT-550, and was given a Galaxy 5 parts unit.
The parts unit is missing the section of the bandswitch that switches the final tank coil.

In my working unit, the switch section is made of white plastic, and is quite compact,
maybe an inch and a quarter in diameter.  It seems to hold up if you don't attempt to load up
the wrong antenna.

I had this radio and found it is prone to failure and impossible to find. That is definitely the weak link is this whole line up.
