I hear some stations on ssb on the cb band, and I don't stay on too long. I hear stations say a few introductory phrases and then the say good bye,
hello, good bye, what use is that?, why bother to have a radio if all you can say is waving a hand.
Yet, "You're 5/9 1436" is perfectly ok.
I get your point.
Leave 27.555 and you will find some ops that are pretty technical. When I was an avid freebander 30 years ago, we had a group called the "Sattelite Network". It was a group of technicians that shared their technical abilities with the rest of the technicians.
It was started by a gentleman in Venezuela. I heard he died about 20 years ago. An American expat. There was also a guy whom was the secretary in Florida (I met him when I was living there) that kept a running library of every document shared. All free for anyone that wanted them for the price of the paper and a stamp.
There are technical guys out there. FT8, SSTV, WSPR, etc are all being used by 11 meter ops, especially in the freeband.
Being in the Caribbean now, I hear quite a lot of them when I spin the dial from 12 to 10 meters.
