The HV bnc's rated for 4000 volts?
The modulated B+ will be at LEAST 2 times the plate voltage and often hits 3 times.
What is the B+ voltage on the 500?

Great looking transmitter, I think the nicest looking one Johnson ever made.
Nice power level also.

The only thing I thought the -500 lacked was 160M. It was used on all its other rigs and the VFO is the standard used on the Ranger and the Valiant. I'm curious as to how to design a modern version of one.

Here is video of my 500 operating on the bench, now to put the covers on and get it on the air.

Later this year i will begin restoring my second Johnson 500 RF deck and i will ATTEMPT 160 meters as the vfo operates there. It will be some switching and tank changes, i did this to my Thunderbolt without extra front panel switches. The resistive switch position is 160m and does the tank changes nicely.

NOW, IAM SEEKING ANOTHER JOHNSON POWER SUPPLY ASSEMBLY. DOES ANYONE HAVE ONE THATS AVAILABLE???
