Elementary school children get amateur radio licenses. Why can't you?

Before I go ahead and read all the posts, made after my last reply, let me ask you guys something:

Why do people feel the need to make fun of you, and/or start [borderline] insulting you!? If you don't like what I have to say, and have nothing constructive to add, then don't reply.
And what's up with these replies: "No it doesn't." or "You are wrong" or "Just go get your license"? If you really have the urge to add your 2 cents worth of negativity, but can't be bothered to say why you feel that way, then don't reply.

Besides, what did I say that was so "bad" or outrageous?

All I did was walk into a Jewelry store and asked, "Nice Titanium watch. Does it come in Steel?" Salesman: "Sorry, unfortunately not", to which I reply, "Too bad. Steel would be nice."
Now imagine the sales guy saying back to me, "What is wrong with you!? You don't like Titanium? Why Steel? They made it in Titanium for a reason! Don't wanna pay the extra price?!"

That is exactly what is happening here. I have a question, an idea, a suggestion, and I was wondering about something. You know, your typical, "Hey, wouldn't that be nice if..."

NO, can't have that!

The best part is, all of you do the same. You sit there and wish they would loosen this or that law. Maybe a law about cars, motorcycles, drones, guns or who knows what! I bet some even voted on changing different laws. But hey, GOD forbid someone wants to change a law regarding amateur radio licenses. Pathetic. Really.

I simply sit here and think: OK, they have dedicated CB, PMR, FRS and GMRS channels that people can use, without having to get an amateur license. Those radios are not the prettiest, coolest, fanciest or whatever, so why do they not do the same with amateur radio frequencies!? You know, reserve a few channels for the "regular" folks. That way I could use the same cool radios, and that's it. I don't want to build antennas, radios, boosters, or what not. Just talk. That way there is no need to get a license. Or maybe a license just like the one for GMRS? One without having to study.
Since HAM radios can be bought without a license anyway, and plenty of people mess around with them as it is, why not control the situation a bit better and open up a few frequencies for people without a license!? How is that going to hurt anything!?

All I do is repeat myself.

Thanks.

PS. Lets not forget these really smart replies saying, "And why don't you get one!? It is really simple. Just study, blah blah blah." I guess they did not read the words I am saying!? Oh man, I am glad you folks find strength in going after someone you do not know, who simply had a legitimate, educated idea...

Consider this, most countries have a license system, its not a choice that is made by amateur operators.
Transmitting is a different thing than just picking up signals off the air.
In the UK you need a tv license just to receive tv signals.

You could petition the FCC.  There is a procedure.

Here's the thing. You come to a ham Radio forum where most have gone through the license process, but wish to use the same band without doing the same? What do you expect?  Are you THAT special? It's kind of a troll post, don't you think?
Nobody here thinks your idea is  legitimate or erudite.

I think jets are cool, too. However, I don't think they will let me fly one without a pilots license and 1000 hours in the aircraft. Maybe I should complain to the FAA to have the laws changed for people who don't want to make any effort? It's just not fair-right?

If you like the "cool radios", fine, go get a license and buy one.

There's already too much "lawlessness" in this country.

But hey, GOD forbid someone wants to change a law regarding amateur radio licenses. Pathetic. Really.

I simply sit here and think How is that going to hurt anything!?

All I do is repeat myself.

What you want is simply not possible, given the reality of operating a technically-sophisticated radio on a wide range of frequencies.

Similarly, you cannot become an astronaut without having to develop some real skills and knowledge.
People as ignorant as you truly are don't understand how and why they can become dangers to their own self interests and to the interests others. You are just that kind of person.

Your suggestions reflect an enormous amount of technical ignorance. They also reflect narcissism, immaturity and social pathology. You cannot understand what others are trying to tell you because you simply do not care about others or about what is often referred to as genuine authority.

This is exactly what is happening here.

Real experience of the challenges of the technicalities of radio communications, as reflected by amateur as well as other endeavors has value, despite your fantasies. You, I think, are the pathetic one. Really.

There's a certain amount of disorder in any highly-organized and complex endeavor. On the whole, however, commercial airline flight is relatively safe and there are many people who do a great deal of flying. Even though commercial aircraft are highly-automated, not everyone is entitled to operate such machines, however much they wish to do so. The followers of Osama were able to steer aircraft into
buildings, but they were hardly qualified pilots. You have something in common with those killers.

You repeat yourself indeed. What you need to do is to get some psychiatric help and/or get a job
working in some commercial communications field. You'll soon discover that the seemingly-simple
radio networks that so many of us depend upon, quite aside from amateur radio, are really quite
fragile and require constant maintenance and other kinds of technical attention.

Take a step into the real world. It's much more interesting than your fantasy world.

An amateur radio license requires "only" a written test, because it does not take any skill to push a button.

Not much of a written test, multiple guess. No knowledge required today, download the test pool questions and take the test. Nothing to it. Anyone with the application fee can be an Extra Class operator. Imagine if the IFR certification were that easy? Most pilots are better radio operators than most hams. One is a pro, and the other...

All I did was to wait for my parents to go out to a restaurant on a Friday or Saturday night.

I can say the same. Just because you had to go study and get a license, those frequencies are more yours than mine!? Are you THAT special!? You guys act as if you are working in a team, building a sand castle for 4 weeks, and some dude comes along and joins on the last day, and now he gets the same amount of credit as everyone else. Really!?

Well, I guess there are two types of people: You guys, who sit there and get mad that they had to do all the work, and the new guy had to work for just one day. And then there is my type, who sits there and says to the new guy, "Dude, we were working our asses off for 4 weeks! Lucky you!!!" Honestly, I would be stoked for the guy, and I mean that. Let that sink in for a moment.

And, if the license is as easy to get as everyone says, then why get upset that I would like to ride a long without getting the license!? LOL. Besides, like I said before: I do not want to be able to have the same "rights" as someone with a license.

Having said that, you don't see that your attitude (and everyone else's on here)  is the problem!? You are the "team" and anyone that wants to join has to go through the same "pain". Again. I am not like that guy. I am happy for others not having to go through what I went through...

It's kind of a troll post, don't you think?

It was just a matter of time until my post was going to be viewed as a Troll post. Pretty predictable, to be honest. But what does that really tell you!? Does this say more about your community, or me!?

Nobody here thinks your idea is  legitimate or erudite.

I mean, you can go to any "group/community" and say, "WTF are you guys doing!?",and of course, they will all look at you, as if you are the nut job (just like someone did on here). Was my post really that bad to call me a nut?

A. I think Jets are cool as well.
B. Correct. If you want to fly one, you need a pilot's license and a specific amount of time (and a few other things) in that aircraft.
C. You should read my posts again. I never said that the FCC should change the laws. I said that it would "make sense" to add a few new laws (if you want to call them that). I would prefer "regulations".
D. You should read my posts again. I never said that I do not want to put any effort in. What I said was; that even if I have a license, it's not going to do me any good because I would like to hand out radios to friends whilst doing various outdoor activities, and I cannot expect everyone to get a license just because we would like to chatter a bit on the radios.
E. One more thing about having a pilots license: "Unlike driving cars, the PIC may allow anyone, including a non-pilot, a pilot who may not legally act as pilot in command, or another fully qualified pilot fly the airplane, or be "sole manipulator of the controls" during the flight. The PIC is not required to sit in the left pilot seat.``
F. Think about that and your "precious" amateur radio license. A PIC (pilot in command) is allowed to let someone else fly the plane, but as an amateur radio licensee, I am not allowed to hand out another radio and say, "Here, take this radio. It is all set up. I know what I am doing. I have a licence!"  Wow!? how "special" do they think pushing a button is!? LOL.

I already covered this.

No doubt about that!

Thanks, enjoyed the chat...
PS. Whenever I go Skiing, I run into people who went Skiing in the 80's, and they all bitch how painful those boots were back then. But guess what. I never see anyone get mad at us for not having to go through the same pain. Actually, it is the opposite. They are genuinely happy for us NOT having to go through what they went through. How come I never see that in the HAM radio community!? I did not read all the posts yet, but what would be the odds of someone actually siding with me, ha ha.

There are international regulations, and for good reason. Not all amateur bands are the same worldwide, either, and the international regulations state that 'amateurs are duly qualified'. You have to learn procedures for pilot and marine operators, even these days. Even CB shares frequencies with ISM, which doesn't care about interference....Admittedly, you have to know about repairing cars or even aeroplanes in order to use them. Train drivers have to know the rules and  to have some ides of what faults are dangerous and which ones mean a train can still limp along and clear the section.

Hmm? I thought I made myself clear!? I do not want to change the rules. I would like the FCC to add some. ?

Adding something to what already exists IS changing it.
What you really want is to be boujie and play with the cool looking radios without putting in the effort.

That's easy. Take GMRS handheld radios for example.
You can get a cheap set of 2 for 50 bucks or so or you can go get one that does the same thing .... just higher quality and "looks" more like a ham radio handheld for over 150 bucks for one.
