Used HF Transceiver SDR Capable
« on: September 18, 2022, 05:05:38 PM »

There are a lot of used HF rigs on the market but which ones are SDR equipped, I could buy a FT-991A but I have an Alinco DR-610 VHF/UHF mobile for that part or parts of the bands, I just want to do it right.
I glanced at the Chinese Q-900 but limited on the power and I do not want to use an amp

The answer to most HF radio questions is Icom IC7300.  This is no different. See if you can find a good used one. They are only the most popular HF radio in terms of sales volume of all time.

ARRL and QST's new technical editor and columnist, KE0OG, has extensive information on this very subject...lotsa good YouTube videos as well.

I bought new the IC7300 and IMO an excellent phone and digital rig, but so-so for CW.

Gentlemen I thank you I will now keep my eyeball peeled to the IC7300, I was looking at a lot of radios and it seems a goodly number are not digital which I will stay away from.

There are lots of good used radios out there.  The question is "is SDR better?"  You may get less radio with early SDR.
