No Reeption V/Uhf
« on: September 19, 2022, 06:35:29 PM »

I have several handhelds and all are doing the same thing they receive no signal, the repeater in Polk County, WI 54006 is at 147.195 +.600 and tone of 110.9 my radios are Yaesu FT-4X and Baofeng UV5R and UV5XP, and GT-5R.
Freq is set at 147.195  +.600 my tone receive and transmit are 110.9 SQLC is set at 1, I have had the radios on all day and have heard not a peep, I do know that these radios will not wake the repeater due to the distance of about 20 miles but I would think they woud receive any suggestions?

Although you didn't mention it, presume you are listening on your HT's with 'rubber duck' antennas.  Receiving a repeater 20 miles away on a 'duck' is a bit of a stretch.

Also, make sure you don't have 'digital code squelch' (DCS) invoked in your HT's.  If the repeater/s you are monitoring are not transmitting a DCS tone, you will hear nothing.

A third thing, repeater activity nationwide has dropped off.  I might be the repeater/s in question are just not being used.

Also make sure you haven’t enabled TSQL (tone squelch).  You want just “encode” set to the proper tone to key the repeater.

Also, some radios have a lockout or transmit disable function that you might have inadvertently set.
