Yaseu SCU-17 download
« on: September 19, 2022, 06:38:09 PM »

Can someone tell me where to find info to download Yaesu SCU-17 software.
The link to silicon labs on the Yaesu website does not work, at least not for me.
Just got new computer and need to reset and reload everything and I'm not at all computer literate.
Thanks,

Is this the information you seek???...

https://community.silabs.com/s/question/0D58Y00008cd6oESAQ/cant-seem-to-locate-the-driver-for-yaesu-scu17-interface?language=en_US

The above contains two identical answers to what appears to be your exact question, based on an inquiry most recently made in April of this year (2022). Both have the same link to the same location where the driver software is archived.

A word of warning, however...

I'm a Mozilla Firefox user and I'm sorry to say that Firefox seems to be losing its compatibility with more and more websites as time goes on. Firefox is not Chromium based for its browser engine and often I get weird result like pages that won't render, searches that just spin and spin and never complete, and so on. It's getting worse.

You won't have this problem with a Chromium engine-based browser like MS-Edge or Google Chrome. (Apparently even Microsoft knows a good thing when they see it.) So website developers and maintainers seem to only be validating their website updates on these compatible and more "popular" browsers.

I made the mistake of trying to search for your app on the silabs site first with Firefox, and I got the weird results of none of the pull down menus working.

So make sure your browser has a Chromium engine embedded in it for best search results.

I hope the above gets you to the answer you need. Please post your success or otherwise here for all of the eHam Community to see. Thanks....

Thanks for the info Tony, I also use Firefox as my browser and have had no problems in the past, but I will give it a try with a different browser.

Used another browser and all seemed to go well, appears to have downloaded everything I needed.
Thanks for the advice again. Worked when I used Microsoft Edge
Thanks again Tony

I use the SCU-17 with my FT-891, and my Windows 11 Lenovo IdeaPad laptop with Fldigi and WJST-X.  It works flawlessly well in my opinion.  Some complain that it is expensive.  Yes it may be, but… I like everything Yaesu in my shack for comparability.  It is a great accessory to the FT-891.  I find with Fldigi you want to adjust the receive gain of the SCU-17 so that the audio level is around -50dB on a quiet spot and then keep the audio peaks of the received signal around -40dB.  This can be done with the RF Gain control on the rig.  It takes a while to get a handle on the adjustments but it definitely works well once you have it under control.

Most important…!  Make sure you install the driver BEFORE attempting to use the SCU-71, otherwise you may encounter a driver nightmare trying to straightening out the wrong driver that the computer assigns to it. BTW… It is the same driver that the FT-991 and FT-991A uses, because essentially they have the innards of the SCU-17 already built in as their sound card interface.
