Clansman VRC 321 and FT8?
« on: September 24, 2022, 05:14:12 AM »

Hi all

I am keen to get my rather dusty 321 back in use and given the USB mode only I wondered if anyone has got it working reliably on FT8 or even PSK?

If so any advice on set up and use would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

Not familiar with that particular radio, but both FT8 and PSK operate on USB.

Many thanks for the reply. The Racal UK VRC 321 is a British army military radio working on any freq from 1.5 to 29.999 Mhz AM/ CW / USB only. It gives a good 50-55 watts output and if aligned correctly is absolutely rock steady on all freqs. I have managed to get it connected to to a USB /soundcard interface working on a laptop with Windows and the FT8 S/Ware. The one thing is that the radio is spot freq specific and requires you to put a USB offset into the dials and getting this absolutely right needed for FT8 is proving to be a bit of a problem! Any help and suggestions would be appreciated. I have tried to insert a picture of the radio but cannot seem to get it to work on my Mac!
