Actually pretty upscale.  Attempted to repair what was there and got the radio to work without the board but without a feature it is suppose to have.  WS1C fried that board and I want to insure the radio is full up should I ever hand it off to someone.  YAesu indicated at one point the board is obsolete when in fact when they checked they have like 18 in stock.  No, this repair source Ham repair.com is very valid.  The seller wasn't.

Not sure how you make that an equitable statement.

They half fixed your radio.  And told you the part was unobtanium.

Then you where able to find qty 18 of the part.  At the OEM.

Sounds like the place of repair didn't really want to repair your radio, or they where unable to put a call in to Yeasu?

When you buy stuff you don't physically check out and test, you are bound to get burned at some point. Why do we need to hear you whine about it?

Also, I agree...if a person is hired to repair something and says he can't find parts available from the OEM, I question his ability as well. So unless YOU are not telling the whole truth, then what you said he said dents his reputation.

I buy a lot of used commercial and ham radio equipment. I shop the obituaries for ham radios and biz is great. A widow just paid me $250 to haul away an Elecraft K3, Rohn G65 tower. Palastar Manual tuners and several boxes of junk. Have 5 hams lined up willing to overpay.  Easy money.

Don't have a cock in this fight but I do have a ?

If the seller never used the "CW mode"  and/or the
key jack would he have known?

I ask because I haven't ran any CW in years(FYI I am a 13WPM Extra).
So I may not know if my radios' CW jack was bad.

Not a bad jack, a bad switch board in the radio the seller fried and then lied about it.  You can bypass it and use the radio but will require an outboard keyer.  Most ops wouldn't know as many don't do CW but a contester and DXer would know right up front.  Pays to be honest.
