Your suggestions were much appreciated, RKW!
I bit the bullet and cleared Chrome's complete browsing history and cache, including six "important sites," of which eham.net was one.
I log into eham.net only to post or attempt troubleshooting the extant problem, so not often. I log out afterwards.
Unfortunately, performing both of your suggestions yielded the same results - ultimately "failed download" due to "server problem."
Any other ideas? I, too, have experienced the "slowdowns;" only on my end the error was always "site took too long to respond." It was never just slow. With no changes on my end, once I was able to access the site, logging in and out (including back in) never would let me download ("server problem").
Since the site lost my password (since reset), is there such a thing as resetting my account? HOWEVER, I would not want the site to lose the posts in the threads I have been a part of.
RKW, if you are not a site administrator, is there some way to wake one up. I note "slow site" complaints did not elicit a response.
Many thanks anyone for assistance.
