Kenwood TM V71
« on: October 14, 2022, 04:44:33 PM »

Scratching my head here and need someone smarter than I to help. My buddy has a Kenwood TM V71a as do I. We are trying to connect through a repeater but are unable to. I have made QSO through this repeater to other stations with great signal report. My buddy has also made QSO to other stations through the same repeater with good reports. When we attempt a QSO through the same repeater  he can not copy me at all but I hear him clearly. What could be going on that would prevent him hearing my station?

One is set to Tone Encoding on receive. The other isn't.

A common problem is that one of the radios is set for simplex (no offset) - either on the repeater input or output. It often goes undetected as long as the stations are in simplex range.

Thanks to all that replied. For whatever reason, we tried to make contact again today (without any setting changes to the radio) and a QSO was accomplished. I have no idea why nothing worked yesterday and today it worked as it should.  At any rate I appreciate the assistance.  Carry on men.
