Weird WSJTX transmit fuction
« on: October 25, 2022, 06:05:47 PM »

I could almost swear that my WSJTX used to not re-transmit my response to someone else's CQ if it detected that my target responsed to someone else.  But now when I reply, and wait for a response and see my target responded to someone else that my wsjtx still repeats my response to his CQ.

Am I wrong on my recollection?  What is the expected behavior?

I have also noticed this very issue and wondered about it too.

It depends on your transmit frequency.  If your transmit frequency (in the WSJT program) is close to what they are transmitting on, it will stop if they transmit to someone back. This happens all of the time if you won't check "Hold TX Freq" because that will cause you to transmit on their frequency.  Other times you just happen to be transmitting on similar frequencies.  I don't know how close the similarity has to be to stop your transmitting, though.

Robots having problems talking to robots, definitely not an issue I ever foresaw in the future of ham radio back in the 60's  ;D

ah thats exactly it im sure.  I recently started using that HOLD option to hopefully be able to bypass  potential pileup responses on a targets TX freq.  THANKS!

About 10 Khz. So don't get too close to his frequency and make sure the checkbox of hold transmit freq. is checked and you should be good to go.

My FT-8 installation has zero robotic skills.  I still have to do things to initiate and carry on the contact.

I get what you are saying, and for me FT-8 is a been there, done that (for about a month) thing.  But your viewpoint isn't very accurate for the majority of FT-8 operators.

Mine is pretty much the exact same as RTTY.  I used canned responses on RTTY too.

A brief discussion here:

Your transmit and receive brackets must be pretty much touching edge-to-edge for the 'disable transmit' to work.
