Pretty simple.
You had red flags and ignored them.
His email address? Who puts Jr in the middle. I would have stopped. Right. There.
Sorry you got burned. When people whine about the 2.9 pct PayPal fee, and I REALLY want the item, I pay goods and services and add the fee. They get their money, in the amount they want, and I get protection.
I actually had one person REFUND my money. I am almost sure if I had done friend nds and family, I would have been burned.
Basically, you committed fraud unwittingly against PayPal, at the behest of another person committing fraud.
Sucks, but everything said is true.

Exactly this ^^^.
That’s why I never use those methods of payment, never have and never will. It’s a no brainer for me
Your choice of course but you're likely missing out on many things and safer payment methods....
Sorry you got burned! I got burned via PP more than 15 years ago and now
it's in-person buy/sell or no deal.(unless I am willing to lose "whatever")
You always take a chance but online is worse.
Not really. Many folks are actually misinformed about online payment methods. Buying has never been safer. If you send somebody a cashier's check or a personal check and end up getting burned then you really have no recourse. Maybe a civil claim in small claims court and if you're lucky then maybe local police at the seller's location - if you really have it - will pursue charges but usually not and you end up with nothing and lose your money.
Ditto if you pay cash, even in person. That is only marginally safer and only if you can thoroughly test whatever it is that you're buying. And if it blows up in your face a week later, you paid cash so no paper trail and seller can claim innocence and tell you to bug off.
OTOH, if you pay with a good, reputable online company such as PayPal and play by the rules, then you will usually get your money back if things go south. PayPal will do everything in their power to get money back from the seller. But ONLY if you use goods & services and don't screw PayPal out of their (really small & worth it) 2.9% fee.
I use both online & offline payment methods and try to always do due diligence before purchasing when needed and I've (so far, knock on wood) never been burned in 20+ years but maybe I'm just lucky, who knows?
