I greatly prefer online manuals, especially as downloadable pdf files I can collect in Dropbox or iCloud. It’s easily searchable, always available when I’m not home, and can be updated by the manufacturer. Even when I’m home, I can check something whenever the notion strikes from my phone or tablet, and to me it’s infinitely better than a stack of stapled pages I didn’t know I’ve already misplaced. But yeah, it’s a different mindset.

Radios today have so many features/bells and whistles. The need for manufacturers to explain them...how to dig down in menus, sub menus, sub-sub menus, knobs and switches with double and triple functions, swipe left/right/up/down, press, press and hold for one second, do this, don't do that...is quite daunting. What used to need a 20 page manual now has to be 120 pages. They'd have to ship everything in a bigger box to accommodate a manual that weighs an extra 10 pounds ;D.

I've traded in several radios over the last few years and always included the original manual - usually in its unopened plastic bag. A desktop PC with two large monitors is the centre point of the shack and I always refer to the electronic documentation...

In today's market, radios are also gaining features and changes via firmware updates so the old printed manual may no longer be accurate or complete.

I prefer the PDF version as I can easily search the entire manual using the correct term rather than paging endlessly back and forth through a paper copy.

One thing that nobody mentioned is with electronic manuals, you can search them. On my IC-705 I have searched for key words and it is really nice to find all of the instances that I might not have looked at in the paper manual.

Manufacture quit killing tree when CD appeared in 1982. Time to get with the times Boomer.

I'm sorry you don't see it the same way we do, but you really should keep your attitude to yourself.
