Did you read and understand the part of connecting the antenna, and to turn the radio on?

Hard to believe. You have several hundred postings; you must have other radios and ham experience. No band activity can't be. Maybe you need to return the 7300.

We really need more information than that to even make a guess.   Radio on?  Radio make any noise?  What bands are you trying to use?  ( This could just be poor band conditions ?)  What is your antenna?  Can you transmit?   If so,  what is the SWR?   etc. etc.

I just checked and there's a boat load of CW activity on most hf bands due to the ARRL CW Sweepstakes this weekend. Some signals so strong a wire stuck in the antenna port will due.

And, 24-7 somewhere in the world you'll always find FT8 signals. You'll find the FT8 frequencies listed on the Internet.

WA9AFM makes a very good point.  I did not consider the original poster might be using WSJT-X .   Computer clock being off is a very common reason not to see any stations ....

yeah but... shouldn't some  equipment testing happen before posting such a statement?
on face value:
power on, known good antenna connected with no activity = defective radio! ( assuming RF gain is max)

Well, based on all the information you provided, I'd say your radio is broken.

No it is not KAPUT in fact I went to wsjt-x I.O and found the help which I would never have fingered out on my own> I really dislike asking anything on this eham due to the Bloody Rudeness of you people and being new to the 7300 might take til Spring to get it proper.
main@WSJTX.groups.io 39276
This Ham had my exact problem:
Open Device Manager and click on the small arrow at the Ports
tree, is there
a Silicon Labs device with the power supply ON and the 7300 also ON?
Next, expand the Sound tree, do you see a USB Audio Codec?
Do you see any device with a Yellow mark on the Icon?
Double check these settings,
Radio Tab,
Rig,  Icom IC-7300,  Poll Interval  1s
Serial port,  What you have.
Baud Rate,  19200
Data Bits, Eight
Stop Bits,  One
Handshake,  None
Force Control Lines,  None selected
PTT Method,  CAT
Mode, Data/Pkt  <<<Important>>>
Split operation,  None

On the Audio Tab select for the input and output USB Audio CODEC

You must be in USB-D mode

Here are the main settings in the Connectors menu.
ACC/USB Output Select,   AF
ACC/USB AF Level,   30%
ACC MOD Level,   50%
USB MOD Level,   20%
DATA OFF MOD,   MIC,ACC
DATA MOD,   USB
In the CIV Sub Menu---
CIV Baud Rate,   19200
CIV Address,   94 (default for 7300)
CIV Transceive,   OFF
CI-V USB Echo Back,   ON

It seems that you have a recurring problem with your setup.
When you get everything working then do a SD card backup
of all settings/memories.  Make notes of any areas not easily
backed up, pad/pen.
Remember in the 7300 you must do a format in the SD card
sub menu before any backups are done.

Given what and how you asked, I’d say yours is a self-inflicted problem for which you prefer to blame others.

I really dislike asking anything on this eham due to the Bloody Rudeness of you people and being new to the 7300 might take til Spring to get it proper.
Ask a sensible question and you might receive a sensible reply.

FWIW, not only is the IC-7300 one of the best selling radios of all time, it is one of the best data radios around, both in terms of performance and ease of configuration.

While it matters little on FT8, on ARQ modes it has little latency, almost as good as an analogue transceiver and ten times less than some SDR transceivers. The TX/RX switching times are pretty good too.

The measured TX latency was 4.2 mS and on RX (3 KHz bandwidth) 3.3 mS. Those who use Amtor, Pactor, and possibly VARA, will appreciate how that matters in terms of long range QSOs.
