I created a HRWA server
« on: November 07, 2022, 04:36:05 PM »

I also posted this on QRZ and Reddit, but I want to spread the word about this thing so I'm putting it here too.

I have an automated station running Thor 100 @ 14.106.5 MHz USB (or 7.100.5 MHz) + 1500 Hz audio frequency. You can connect to this station by sending "*KJ7QQG de [callsign]*", but make sure to end your transmission right after sending this because it will only wait about 15 seconds before sending you info back.

After connecting, you can send "*option 1*" to get the raw HTML of a website you provide, or "*option 2*" to do a quick lookup.

If you choose option 1, you would then send something like "*https://www.qrz.com**" to download the HTML from www.qrz.com, or "*https://www.qrz.com**t" to download a text-only version, which is much faster.

If you choose option 2, you would send something like "s*Weather in Oregon*f" and it would reply with the results of your query in regular text.

If you are done using the server, you can send "*exit*" to disconnect.

The point of this is to give people who have HF access but no internet a chance to use the web to look things up if they need to. There's an automatic flagging system in place where if the website you search you request has inappropriate content in it, it won't transmit it.

So far nobody has connected to it, would anyone be willing to help test it?

The server has moved to 10.145 MHz USB, and will stay there full time.
