Yaesu FTM-6000R Memory Channel Selection Dial
« on: November 09, 2022, 10:05:57 PM »

I recently purchased the Yaesu FTM-6000R. I wanted a basic dual band transceiver with a digital interface that I could use for Winlink and this unit fits the bill. One odd thing I noticed is that when in memory mode, if you rotate the channel selection dial counter-clockwise past memory channel 1, it does not roll over to the highest memory channel. It just stops incrementing and stays at channel 1. The same thing happens when rotating the dial clockwise past the highest memory channel. It doesn't roll over to memory channel 1. It just stops incrementing.

I also have a FT-7900. On that unit the memory channel dial rolls over as you would expect in either direction.

I've looked at both the operating manual and the advanced manual for the FTM-6000 but I don't see anything that addresses this.

Is this a setting on the FTM-6000 or is this just how it operates?

Thanks for any insights you can provide.

You may want to ask Yaesu this question........

I also have the ftm-6000.  Mine acts just like yours when spinning the dial.
But when I scan the memory channels it keeps going in a loop.
I have had a few Yaesu dual banders and this one does have a different way
of doing a few things.  With every new generation of operating systems
things change.  Try the scan, it's hands free.

KA2DDX,

Thanks for the suggestion of contacting Yaesu directly. I probably should have done that in the first place. I've contacted them with the question. I'll post their answer when I receive it.

K7CWQ,

Thanks for your reply. At least I know that I'm not the only one seeing this. As you suggest, I have been using the scan, and as you say, it rotates through the channels as I would expect.

Again, thanks for getting back to me.

I contacted Yaesu as KA2DDX suggested. They said, "This is how the radio is designed and does not have rollover as you are describing."

Puzzling to me why it operates this way but not a big problem. At least I know that I haven't fouled up some setting.

Again, many thanks for your responses and suggestions.
