WTWW, 2/19/2010-11/10/2022

Last night they announced that they are shutting down all their shortwave transmitters effective at the end of the 5085 kHz broadcast at 0600Z on 11/10/22, and will continue online only.  High costs were given as the reason, mainly the cost of electricity at about $15K/month.

No mention of the shutdown on their website, however.  RIP, WTWW.  Another nail in the shortwave broadcasting coffin.  :'(

Interesting. They are owned by the heirs of a religious leader in Utah, as I recall Ted Randall telling me when I co-hosted a show with him a few years ago. The 5085 transmitter was actually the backup transmitter for the religious broadcasts. Ted just used it for amateur radio and, later, music. Tubes were about $10K a pop, he said. I wonder of the religious programming support dropped recently. It could well be temporary. Stay tuned!

Amazing, the Overcomer broadcast will probably never end, even without Brother Stair around.

I heard WTWW on 5085 with religious programming last week at around 0400 UTC.  No idea if this means they're back for good.

The oldies programming that used to air on 5085 has moved to WRMI on the following frequencies effective 1/3/2023, per their website:

4980 kHz:  2300-0500 UTC
7730 kHz:  0400-0500 UTC
9455 kHz:  0200-0300 UTC
