« on: November 12, 2022, 05:20:45 AM »

Got my icom mobile set up in the truck after  i repaired it.
( it was given to me by an elmer and he told me i needed to repair it.)
Anyhow tuned and matched signal was good.
Traveling to see my kids i tried it out.

Congratulations!  Although it's been over 62 years since my first QSO, I still remember the excitement of that first contact!  Wishing you many more in the future!

I will never forget my first contact...which didn't happen!  Replied to a CQ from a station in Norway.  I was so rattled that my "fist" probably sounded like a cat running up and down a keyboard.  The final coup de gras was my sweating hand getting across the key terminals.  THAT rattled my teeth.

Needless to say my first contact never was. I couldn't even understand what he sent after "SRI OM."

That was 66 years ago.........

Congrats on your first contact. Like the other ops I recall mine. Back in the summer of '71 I got my Novice license and made my first real QSO: WN8IPB in Ohio. I was ecstatic!

A few years back I found my Novice log and looked up that first OH QSO: I still had his QSL card. After some detective work I surmised that he was still alive and had an email address. So I sent him a pic of his card. His return email said it all: "you made my day" and he sent me a photo of my card, which he had kept. One of the best summers of my long life....

That first contact is VERY special! Congratulations!
Mine was 44 years ago. I'll never forget it, or how I felt when it happened.
Still have the QSL card from that contact.
