AEA Morse Machine MM-3 firmware
« on: November 12, 2022, 11:15:08 PM »

I am putting back into service one of these units.
When I queried the unit for the firmware version, it replied  12.
I wonder if this is the 'latest' version.
Has anyone managed to read chip and save the firmware to a file?
If so, what version?    I am interested in programming a second EPROM to keep as a backup.
Thanks

I can't help you with the software but what ever version you have I'm sure the version will do all you want.  I have had my MM-3 for 30 years now and it's probably the longest anything has stayed in my shack, and I will never sell it. That said I have never heard of a AEA keyer Eprom failing. There have been times my keyer has sat for years out of use and just always worked when plugged in.  You may want to think about buying another one used as a back up.  Good luck

Thanks.  I am discovering the power this has as a stand alone device.

For those interested:  I managed to download the firmware  I have saved to a file and reloaded it to a new EEPROM.  All seems well.

This unit is quite something.  I built the cable to connect it to a laptop, and that enables all that functionality.

In the manual for the unit, AEA talks about an 'answer booklet'.  I wonder if anyone has a copy of said document.    On line searches have proven fruitless.
