I need a meter to test ESR in capacitors in circuit. What do you recommend for an accurate meter for finding bad capacitors.

Hi,

I've had a Dick Smith Electronics ESR meter for about 15 years now.
I like it a lot, but they stopped production of the kits.

If you Google 'Bob Parker ESR', you will find a ton of info,
The various 'ESR Blue' meters are off-springs of his original design,
which was published in 'Electronics Australia'.  The Alltronics one looks like a good bet. (Anatek instruments). They go for about $100 built or $82 for the kit.

My method has always been when in doubt throw the them out and install new capacitors.

I use a Peak Electronics ESR meter.

https://www.peakelec.co.uk/

Their test meters are quite addictive... I also have their transistor tester and LCR meter.

Pricing isnt that bad either, but i imagine dx shipping would bit a bit rough.
