When did you last work a new one,
« on: November 20, 2022, 04:02:00 PM »

Hi All

After my post on the KH8 thread I had a look and I have not worked a new one since 2018, I was shocked by that I was sure I got something in the last year or 2, that was the KH1 trip that was pretty much a bust for us here in NW EU so I was really lucky to catch them, that along with catching the French guy on FT5/X who only mad a couple hundred QSO's are 2 of my best QSO's for new ones,

Apart from P5 I don't think I have missed anything since, I am at 325 current worked, I can't seem me getting a lot of the ones left due to politics which is disappointing, I should have taken up DXing eariler, only really started to chase it from 2007/8 onwards,

Anyone else who is on a longer new one drouth than I am,

And by new one I mean first QSO with an entity, not the first times you got them on 160m SSTV or 2m FM, the term ATNO has gotten watered down a lot lately going by all the bragging on the cluster  ;D

In the past 7 weeks I've worked Comoros, Benin, Togo, and yesterday I worked TL8ZZ on 20 meters.

Now going for K8H and T33T....

P5/4L4FN  06/05/2002.  My last new one and last one.

There were some new ones in the Carib due to political reorg in 2010.  New last ones.

Oh, then there was Z60A, another new last one.  Worked 01/22/2018.

Did I miss any?  At least three "last new ones."

My most recent ATNOs were S21DX (12/13/21) & VK0MQ (6/19/22), 331 and 332 respectively.  From here on out it's a waiting game.

My last new one was Z60A (Kosovo) in Jan 2018. Worked Martti a couple of times prior to that, but it wasn't on the DXCC list at the time. Got a sweep 15-160M during the 2018 DXpedition. Z60A was on again in 2021, and that got me 10M. But still don't have 12M and can't stand having that missing slot. Been looking for 12M but yet to hear or see Z6 on that band. QRZ is showing a total of 66 ops for Kosovo. Don't know if they are very active or not on HF or what's going on.

Last new one (also last one) was 20+ years ago. Enjoy the chase. It's not much fun catching the same fish again.

In May I worked Thailand & Singapore, then June was Taiwan and recently Djibouti. But then, my mixed total is just a hair under 300 though (298, but 300 if you count deleted entities). I am a little hammer (100 watts, no antenna above 30 feet) and used to live in NC, so the SE Asia is likely new because I am back in Arkansas now and those are probably easier from here. The Djibouti was just one I never caught before... was active from 2010-2018 in NC. Africa was WAY easier from there!

Dam I was mostly off the air from 2018-2021 and did not even realize they had activated Kosovo.

My last new one was J28MD, the Djibouti dxpedition.  I've yet to break 300 entities, so I'm getting a few new ones now and then.

I'm at 308, this year I've worked J28, VK9C, and AP2 for ATNO's.  Before that my last one was in 2019, XX9.  I have a moderate station, 500W if needed, a beam at 35' for 10, 15, and 20, and dipoles and verticals for everything else.  At the rate I'm going, I never expect to reach 320, much less honor roll.  But I retire at the end of the year and maybe I'll get to spend more time chasing DX.

Last new one here was Kosovo in 2018 as well.  Before that it was Annobon Is. in 2017 and Heard Is. before that.  Currently at 324 total, trying to get to 2000 for DXCC Challenge.  Currently at 1966 with LOTW and paper cards.

It was Kosovo for me as well, and before that it was Heard Island. Two months before Heard were South Sandwich, and South Georgia. Bouvet won't be a new one for me, but Crozet will, if I can get in the log, of course.

Great times are at hand, and soon there will be DX for all—although more for some than for others.
