Ham Spirit Contest reminder (phone)
« on: November 24, 2022, 09:28:22 AM »

Starts on Saturday, 26th of November 2022, at 06.00 Zulu.
It is a 24-hour drill, basically a one-day event for the East Coast USA operators (Saturday).
The rules are posted on https://www.hamspiritcontest.com/
Contacts withing own country count for 1 point and there are no countries, just plain World Wide Locators and ITU Zones.
The telegraphy part of this newly established contest attracted some 900 participants, in spite of massive and coordinated boycott.
This contest was not mentioned by any of the national organizations, as far as I know, and the DX Summit portal filtered away all spots referring to this contest and wiped off all call signs from Russia and Belarus. The cancel culture has now infected the Amateur Radio community in full scale.

This "upside-down CQ WW" contest is a miserable, counterproductive idea that actually continues the process of destruction of Ham Spirit, started by RSGB and CQ Magazine editor W2VU.

This contest has been listed on the definitive site for radio contests, here, since it was announced - here.

Sad to see the "If we fail it is because it was rigged against us" culture trying to take root in ham radio. Contesting has always been about efforts, not conspiracy theories, being rewarded. That will continue.

This contest was not mentioned by any of the national organizations, as far as I know, and the DX Summit portal filtered away all spots referring to this contest and wiped off all call signs from Russia and Belarus.

As well it should be. We are just getting started. Ham radio is full of exclusion, hate, and racism made up primary of white male baby boomers.
