My FT-920 stopped transmitting
« on: December 08, 2022, 08:29:57 AM »

My Yaesu FT-920 suddenly stopped transmitting. it goes into TX mode but no power output to antenna and no power indication on the rig’s power meter. The receiver is working fine. Upon further examination I discovered that the Ant A/B switch is also not working. I am ready to dig into this further but I thought I’d seek you folks advice first. I’m thinking a loose ribbon cable or possibly old capacitors (build date about 1997). Should old capacitors be an issue?

I’d appreciate any help you could offer.

Have you tested with a known good dummy load?

Mike is right....

Also, open it up and make sure it is clean.    No dust or insects, etc.....

I'm not going to say that I'm really familiar with that particular radio. The thing that caught my attention is that you had two symptoms pop up at the same time. To me that would suggest checking your power supplies. There may also be other things you hadn't noticed yet. You may end up needing to get a schematic of the radio and track it that way. Good luck and 73s,

P.S. with any luck, let's hope it's just a loose connection.
