Ten Tec still around...Not!
« on: December 16, 2022, 01:12:07 PM »

Latest press release from Ten Tec...https://www.tentec.com/counterfeit-press-release-on-social-media/

You still can't buy anything from radios to parts from them and cannot get your rig repaired, so I don't know what their idea of "still in business is". Guess they still have to show being in business so they can write off their losses to the IRS.

Ten Tec is out of the amateur radio business. Has been for a few years now. The name was bought after the company was liquidated. It's dead and gone.

If you go to the store https://www.tentec.com/store/ it does say "Closed".  It also says will be open again at end of summer.  It's now Dec?

"Attention Ten Tec Customers.

Effective June 18, 2022, the online store is closed until we finish moving inventory to Ohio.

There is no one in Tennessee and there is no support available whatsoever at this time.

We should be open again at the end of summer.

Thank you.

I wonder why they continue to imply that they will produce something for the Ham community?
It certainly isn't on the priorities list ( by the way they update the site). Yet, the faithful continue to have false hope.
If your old TenTec is getting long in the tooth, it's time to look at some of the other manufacturers offerings.
Collins isn't coming back either!

Some of the Ten-Tec rigs were very nice no doubt but its really no surprise that they're gone from the scene because in order to survive for the long haul in these waters you really need to be as big and have huge resources like those of Yaesu, Kenwood or Icom.

RIP Ten-Tec.

It's now owned by N8WFF, Steve Dishop of Dishtronix in Ohio. He's moving everything from TenTec in Tennessee, to Dayton Ohio he says. He also says he's moving all of Alpha Amplifiers (which he also owns) from Colorado to Dayton as well. He (Dishtronix) makes an overpriced solid-state amp for $10,000+, the Prometheus DX2400L1. He owns the Ten-Tec and Alpha Amplifier names, and he says he's going to bring the Ten Tec line back SOMEDAY...It's been 4-5 years already. It's not coming back.

Being Ten Tec is a very small company, what radio would they produce to compete with the IC-7300 or the FTDX-10? The operational overhead for a small company is to great these days to come up with a niche market item.

The Alpha Radio Amplifier line is dead. OM Power and Mercury give you a much better bang for the buck.

Look in the product reviews under amplifiers. Ninety Eight percent of the names no longer exist.

Expecting  Ten Tec to rise from the ashes like the preverbal Phoenix is wishful thinking.

Link now says "Counterfeit Press Release on Social Media"

As far as I know, that fake document is nowhere to be found on any social media platform and yet, the owner of Ten Tec has left a fuzzy picture of the fake document up on the website banner page with a big disclaimer across the front.  I have to wonder why, since it appears to be no longer an issue.

As for Alpha, not a peep out of them either, nor any mention of Emtron which was also purchased by Dishtronix.  A couple of old employees of Emtron in Australia did not have very nice things to say about the new owner.

I just can't see Ten Tec or Alpha making any kind of comeback any time soon, if ever.
