LDMOS Amp Power Supply - Eltek Flatpack 2 HE 48V/2000W
« on: December 17, 2022, 11:52:42 AM »

Need help with getting supply to operate. Will this PS operate from 120VAC at reduced output capability? Does it need a minimum load to operate? Is some connection to the CAN-BUS needed to get it to operate? Thanks

it will run at reduced output on 120vac I run the 3000 watt versions which are very close to the same.
NO Canbus connection is needed they come preset to 53.5 which is just fine for MRF300's or any of the other newer LDMOS devices. You can operate it with no load and should be able to confirm operation without a load with a standard multimeter. If it doesn't check out simply by powering it up from 120vac then it's most likely defective.

Thanks for your reply. It confirmed my suspicions. Further checking has shown that my supply is DOA as the soldered-in line fuses are blown.
Some on-line reviewers have reported the need for a DC output filter due to PWM noise generated by the fan circuit. Anyone have a comment on this?
Thanks all.

I'm pretty sure the RFI is very minimal on those as it is on the 3k version, I have not been able to spot any inband noise on any of the bands from 160 to 15 meters. Others may have different reports. Bummer about the DOA :-(
P.S. I would definitely try it with new line fuses just in case??

Thanks for the additional info. Unfortunately, the fuses are of the cartridge type with leads and are soldered in. I don't want to do anything that would preclude my ability to return it to the seller for a refund. eBay - win some and lose some!

I understand completely, I'm thinking that for certian applications the flat pak 2000 may be better it has a much wider voltage range if you can find a cheap canbus controller plus you can parallel them (more power) and they will operate together, those will go clear up to 70 volts.
