Viking Ranger Audio Transformer
« on: December 21, 2022, 08:33:00 PM »

I recently acquired a very good looking Viking Ranger.  Transformer T3 the interstage audio transformer has an open primary. If you are parting out a Viking Ranger and have a good transformer I would like to purchase it. Or if any Viking experts know of an available substitute please let me know. This transformer is located under the chassis.  email see QRZ.

You might like to check out D-lab Electronics on YouTube. Terry is very, very experienced with the Viking II, Valiant, Ranger, 500, etc., and has great info in his vids about suitable (often better) modern replacement parts. Transformers from Hammond, etc.

I have had great reports using the hammond transformer and have installed one in my ranger, valiant, as well.  I used the 124B and can recommend it to others. Enjoy, Woody

I second Woody's statement and don't turn your nose up at the Stancor A-53C replacement. I got good reports using a D-104 with this transformer in my Viking I. For $17 you can't go wrong.

Thank you for the suggestions.  I have ordered the Stancore replacement.  One third the price of the Hammond transformer. The Hammond would have cost more than I paid for the transmitter to start with.  But if that was all that was available I would have sprung for that instead
