Android App for Repeaters & Bearing with Compass?
« on: December 24, 2022, 05:48:26 AM »

Many good mountain hiking trails in central/northern NH have no nearby repeaters, so a portable/folding yagi is helpful for 2m 5W HT use.

Are there any Android apps that find repeaters by use of the phone GPS position and also have a compass for use in orienting by bearing to the repeater? I can do this using multiple separate apps, but might be missing the all-in-one solution app.

Now this is funny, and you just cannot make this stuff up. Using your cell phone to try to find out where a repeater is that no one uses.

Many SOTA people carry smartphones with apps that function even if there is no WiFi or cell signal available for logging and digital purposes. They are basically like little computers with GPS.

I didn't think you could count repeater contacts for SOTA.

RepeaterBook shows a compass direction and distance to repeaters based on current location.  The database can be downloaded ahead of time and used offline if there's no cell access.  I would guess RFinder probably does the same thing but I don't use RFinder.
