I enjoyed imagining what it must have been like to chase Don around the radio in those days.
I never worked Don, or even heard him on the air back then. Since he apparently fudged on the rules in at least some of his operations, I don't feel I missed anything at all.

Much more satisfying was working Gus Browning, Danny Weil, and the Colvins, each from several places.

He also served time in prison for conspiracy to commit murder of his wife.

I disagree with that statement.  I do not have to hide buying ham radio equipment, nor so I have to negotiate operating contests, going to hamfests, etc.

Family comes first of course.

As for Don Miller, hopefully he became someone's "wife" in prison.  His wife wasn't killed, and I'm sure she was happy after he went to prison.

He was sentenced to 25-life for conspiracy to commit murder of his estranged wife. Maybe she was about to take him to the cleaners, I dunno. But regardless, I don't condone what he did.

No murder was ever committed, but under California Law it doesn't matter. There is no such thing in California as conspiracy to commit attempted murder. That makes it appear he would have served less time for aggravated assault or attempted murder, if he had instead shot her and she survived. Then he may have also been subject to civil litigation. In some states, what he did would have resulted in a completely different outcome.

All that being said, Don Miller is still an icon in the DX world.

Thought this was about famous DX’ers, not infamous ones. Big difference!
