multiple non interference usb chargers/power supply?
« on: January 01, 2023, 01:03:40 PM »

while using wall warts with multiple isobar power strips has minimal interference, I would like to upgrade to one multi-port usb box that has minimal rfi on hf.
would like to have one with about 20 usb ports and fast charge capabilities....any recommendations?

Perhaps a wakeup call is in order. In its simplest form a USB charger is a 5-volt power supply with a current limiting circuit to regulate charge current. Modern USB devices today use up to 2-amps of charge current. Now multiply that by 20 ports, and you are asking for a 5-volt, 40-Amp DC power supply. It could be done, good luck with that.

What you can get a 6-port 60-Watt hub from Anker that is whisper quiet. It is a smart charger and will provide whatever algorithm the device demands up to 2-amps per port or 10-watts.

I don't believe a 20 port USB hub is available. I've never seen one in my 30 years in the IT field.

Here is a 24 port, 100 watt USB hub by way of example. It is only $40 but I would be concerned about the potential for RFI.

Now that is some funny stuff, only a ham would reccomend something so stupid and dangerous. 100 watts is enough for 10 ports, 24 is a fire for sammy hammy. Great advice.
