Arlan Communications - Radiosport Headsets
« on: January 08, 2023, 04:58:24 AM »

Dave Bottom at Arlan Communications (Radiosport) will take the time to answer all your questions (including the silly ones), and provide you with what you need to fit your particular needs and circumstances.  Don’t think of Dave as a salesman, but rather as a patient and professional technical resource who wants to ensure that you get what you need.  There is no substitute for honest and objective support both pre- and post-sales. Dave promptly responded to my emails and phone calls at the time of my original purchase (years ago) as well as December 2022 when I purchased some additional rig-to-headset cables.

My experience is based upon my purchase of the Radiosport headset with boom mic, RS60CF, along with the M350-ADJ mic element.  I’ve used this headset exclusively for many years now, with an Elecraft K3S and Kenwood TS-890s, and most recently the Elecraft K4D and Icom IC-9700.

The headset is slightly heavy but very comfortable, is fully adjustable and very ruggedly constructed. The gel-filled earcups are soft and pliable (even after years of use) and provide a complete seal resulting in full isolation from external ambient sounds. The cloth ear covering over each gel ear cushion brings the comfort level up a notch especially when wearing for several hours at a time. The mic boom is heavy duty and stiff and stays in place after optimal positioning.  I opted for the M350-ADJ electret condenser element with adjustable gain pot on the element cartridge for fine output tuning. This is a close-talk, noise cancelling element with plenty of punch, and comes with a mic sock to mitigate breath pops.  I have received countless unsolicited audio reports with this mic.  The mic boom will easily accommodate alternate mic cartridges that can be changed (if desired) or replaced within (literally) 5 minutes. The rig-to-headset cable is very robust, and can be easily changed to accommodate various rigs. If you’re considering purchasing a headset, I strongly recommend that you place the Radiosport RS60CF with M350-ADJ mic element at the top of your list.  It is not an inexpensive headset, but it is without doubt a smart investment that will stand the test of time, and will exceed your expectations.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree. With a 4.9 rating from 142 users, they must be doing something right. You may not like them but that is no reason to call him names because you disagree. That is just childish behavior.

..it is a company review by a purchaser in a forum that is labeled Company Reviews.

The company does really only one thing, hence the review, albeit very specific into one product.

In a forum that reviews companies and products, it should be expected.

That's nice.

No thanks.  I use a $40 boom mic that works just as well, and I get great audio reports from it.

Insufficient data to call the OP a "shill."  Could be he's just a good writer... or writes ad copy for a living.

That said, for US$340 for that headset, one would think it had BETTER be that good!
