All you need is a 12 volt mini relay. The SB-200 unmodified has -125 DC for amp keying. With out an isolation relay you will burn out the keying circuit on your new radio.

Do a search on ham amplifier keying and you will find thousands of circuits.

Or just buy the interface from Radio Dan in Colorado.

Bruce,

Harbach Electronics is one company that makes a Soft-Key Keying Interface (their nomenclature is SK-201). It will reduce the -125 VDC to .7 VDC at 1.5 MA. It currently sells for $30.00. It is a do-it-yourself mod or you can get someone to do it.

Good luck in your quest.

The linear amplifier connector pin diagram and discussion of how to carefully use it is shown on pp. 11-13 of the FTDX10 operating manual.  Incredibly, Yaesu's diagram does not show connector pin numbers nor does it reference the pins from the front or back of the plug. Unforgivable.  It may take a deeper look into the service manual and/or schematics to obtain the pin numbers.

As others have indicated, you cannot key the SB-200 amp directly from the FTDX10.  In addition to RadioDan's relay and Harbach's Soft-Key mod, you may want to consider the amp key line buffer from KD9SV and sold through DX Engineering.  It's plug-'n-play like the RadioDan relay but uses dual MOSFETS, capable of switching several hundred volts AC or DC - it doesn't care.  The price is in between the Harbach and RadioDan products, but like the RadioDan relay, it does require a +12V source from a wall cube or other 12V source.

One benefit of the Harbach mod is that the SB-200 amplifier key line is "fixed for good," making the SB-200 compatible with any modern transceiver.

ARB 704 is also a good buffer.

The sb200 already had a slow open frame TR relay and I’d suggest not adding another relay in series with that.  A solid state soft key is the way to go.  Tom W8JI finally designed a stable one for the SB200 and Collins 30 L1.  Some others are unstable on 10 meters and oscillate the bias which kills steady output.

Mine has / came with the harbach soft-key interface and works great. Looks to be about $30 on their site. Lots of other goodies for the SB-200 there as well.
