Wait till you get over 300, then it's a waiting game  :'(

Sitting at 299, I am currently happy to look forward to this problem...  ;) ;D

Plus, there are a few routinely active DXCCs that have continued to elude me. The most common entities I have yet to work are 3W, V8, XW, 9Q, XU, and XX9. Most of those have remained elusive because 100w and a wire generally just hasn't been enough to make it into that part of the world with the way solar conditions have been the past few years.

I feel your pain with 3W, V8, XX9... and add T8 to that list. I have a large hill blocking my path to Asia so it's only when the propagation gods decide I am worthy will they allow a QSO  ;D

I definitely need a a bunch of band slots for ET.. ET3AA is nice and strong on 30m right now, just picked them up there for a new band.

I know they have a lot of noise on the low bands and apparently have given up on trying 80 and 160 meters, but does anyone know if they have or are going to try 40 meters.  I know they were on 60 meters. Wish they would try (new band)

No trust me you won't be happy.

I built an 8 element phased RX array using flags hung between trees to work DX on the low bands during the winter.
During the summers months I chased 6M E skip and worked on my rose garden.

I probably should have said 320.  Things are not as bad after 300 but it becomes a real test of endurance to keep on waiting for an ATNO after 320.

Amen to that, I am at 326 Current, FT8WW was my first new one since 2017, and hopefully if the guys make in onto Bovet and I get a QSO, after that there is nothing in sight for the last 13 I need,

Things are definitely starting to slow down
Wait till you get over 300, then it's a waiting game.

Wait'll you hit the Honor Roll! Crozet just put me at 337 current. Before that the last ATNO was created out of thin air (Kosovo), and before that, it was South Sandwich and South Georgia. It might be years—or decades—or never—before I work another one.

That's just the way it is with all ham radio awards, the more you advance the harder it is to find new ones. Just hang in there, and maybe you'll work more with the passage of time. (Wonder where I heard that word salad before)

With Crozet out of the way, now need North Korea and the Scaffold Rocks for #1. Maybe if I hadn't been an over-the-road trucker and gone for 1-3 weeks at a time I would have those already. And maybe not, I'll never know. Don't know if the chance will come to work those in my lifetime, only the passage of time will tell. When the Grand Reaper says, "It's checkout time," I'll either have those two, or I won't. When that day comes, it won't matter to me nor anyone else.

As for North Korea, we don't know what lies ahead. A regime change doesn't sound likely, but we don't know what will occur.  If Fat Boy kicks the bucket or is incapacitated and his sister is next to lead, I believe she would be worse than him. But who knows what will happen.

As for the Rocks, there's not much hope with the dispute between China and the Philippines. Maybe one day it will be below water at high tide and no longer meet the criteria for which it was grandfathered. Don't want this nor any other country/entity deleted simply because it's hardly ever activated.

Speaking of how awards get harder as you advance, I'm experiencing that now with 60M. It's like déjà vu all over again, feel like a newcomer. Started with 2 countries on Jan 17, and didn't have any US states. This is already confirmed... 60M

I managed to get Scarborough Reef in 2007, but missed P5. The other two I still need are also politically/militarily problematic at the moment: San Felix (CE Navy), and Pratas (BV tensions). I hope one or the other will be on sooner rather than later, but I doubt P5 will activate in my lifetime, barring a full-on regime change in Pyongyang. Maybe in 40 or 50 years. Sigh.

San Felix should be the most likely of the three. Got XR0X in 2002, 10-40M. After nearly 21 years, it's about time for that one to pop up again.

My understanding is the Chinean Navy has a receiving post there and has denied every application submitted since XR0X. Back in the day I had no idea how rare it was and didn't work them.

With the recent activation of Ethiopia, I've worked a couple of bands I didn't have confirmed. Better than nothing. I need to chase up some confirmations with Bob of previous activations there.
I'm at 328 as soon as FT8WW confirms. Next opportunity is 3Y0J, which *should* be workable on a few bands from here.
After that it's a drought again. It was nearly three years since my last ATNO.
My goals are to make 300 on 12 and 10 m. I'm almost there with 17 and 15 m. DXCC Challenge 2500 is in sight, so I keep chipping away at that one. After Honour Roll, I think I'll find another hobby.

Wasn't DX Marathon designed for this problem?  I only need Bouvet and P5 for ATNO and 5 others for either CW or SSB mode.  I was chasing 5 Band WAZ and 160 WAZ but 80 and 160 have mostly gone the way of FT8 so that has ended that goal for me.

One of the things I like about contesting is you start with 0 mults at the opening gun, and the modes are usually restricted, so everyone is in the same game for 48 hours.
