Wasn't DX Marathon designed for this problem?

It was indeed.  W9KNI, "The Complete DXer" was behind it.  He talked candidly about the slow down issue in his early editions of his book.

The DX Marathon (of which I am now helping to score) was designed by him to give people with a boatload of countries something useful to shoot and and keep their skills current.

Better still, it means that if Heard doesn't show up this year, we all miss it, so we're all on equal footing.

The Marathon is a fun event. I've never once submitted a score since I wouldn't even finish within the top 50, but I like to see how many I can work every year relative to previous years. And it gives me something to do in January every year. I'm up to about 185 entities and 39 zones so far, trying fairly hard to do my best, but I know I've left at least a dozen on the table thus far. It's fun, but not anywhere near as fun as working a new one or new band.

Great times are at hand, and soon there will be DX for all—although more for some than for others.

Speaking of how awards get harder as you advance, I'm experiencing that now with 60M. It's like déjà vu all over again, feel like a newcomer. Started with 2 countries on Jan 17, and didn't have any US states. This is already confirmed... 60M

I see you need WV on 60m.    I added your call to JTAlert and will work you if I decode you.

If you want to set something up e-mail me. I can do phone or FT8   I tried to send you a pm with a txt num but it said itwas blocked.

Sri for the late reply, just now saw your post. All is good, got you confirmed on Jan 25. Had several worked in WV, but you were the first to upload to LoTW. Tnx for the QSO and upload. Have several holding out in VT, but one should upload soon.

Watch for K4TT.  Despite the four callsign he's in VT, is on 60m and uses LoTW.

I have a number of QSO over the past ten years with ET3AA. Only some of the earlier contacts are confirmed in Lotw, the latest being in 2018. I must chase the rest up with QSL Manager Bob N2OO.

Needed them only on 160 and 6 meters but these still remain a hopeless dream.
Remember working fantastic E30FB and E31A operations by Zorro-The-Great (SK) teams from the same area.
It was a pleasure and joy.

He's one of the several I worked, but somehow he missed me on upload. Maybe he didn't get my last 73. But no worries, another VT came in on LoTW.  Never copied an AK or HI, so tuned the other 60M "channels." (Don't have channels in this Mars unlocked FT-746Pro) I was in USB mode, and heard some CW. Listened for a moment and heard you working a VE4.station. I'll do a spot search for AK & HI, and maybe find the times they show up on 60M. At this point, I don't know about regional restrictions on the band, so need to research that as well.

Back on topic, worked ET3AA today on 12M for digital. Don't know if it was a pirate or the locals operating after the stateside guys left. According to the spots, the locals are operating, and gave the op's name. The last time I worked ET3AA before, was between 2001 and 2011.

Just now worked KH6/ND0B on FT8.  He's got a winter home there, so he'll be around for awhile.

The VE4 answered my CQ on 5405.  He was running an IC-703 QRP rig to an end fed wire.

So I worked ET3AA yesterday 1/28/23.  The DXPedition ended a week earlier.  Not sure if the contact was legit  or not.

I guess it's a club station. So it's possible a local was on the air.  Anybody got a clue how to verify that and possibly how to QSL, or was this just a slim?

Drop N2OO an email he is the QSL Manager for ET3AA

I hope there will be another operation from there, I didn't manage to catch they guys for half the bands I was after, the seem to spend more time fixing the station that operating it unfortunately,

You can verify and QSL via ClubLog:

Just now worked KH6/ND0B on FT8.  He's got a winter home there, so he'll be around for awhile.

Managed to get AK and HI confirmed on 60M for all 50 states. Wasn't difficult, just needed to stay up a bit later. I'm moving along now to working countries. Started on Jan 17 with only Albania and Navassa, and no states. Got 60 countries confirmed, but know the next 40 will be a lot harder. https://www.k4hb.com/60M.html

With that "lazy text messaging" thing and JT Alert, it's a piece of cake. JT Alert is like a Blue Tick Coonhound, it will sniff 'em out and sound off when it finds what you're hunting for.

For working states, only need AK on 6M for all 550 slots. https://www.k4hb.com/was.html Hopefully, with increasing sunspots, we'll have some F2 propagation on Magic Band this summer. With AK out of the way, all left for me is 2M, if I'll get that Yagi out of the box and put it in the air.

For working all states, saw a W1AW/4 station calling recently, and wondered what that was all about. ARRL did that in 2014, which was an opportunity to work all states on bands and modes, and all were uploaded to LoTW. The station was calling for VOTA. Thought what the heck is that, and looked it up. This may be of interest to those needing states, bands, and modes for Triple Play. Don't know if they'll cover the bands and modes like they did in 2014, but here it is... https://vota.arrl.org/w1awPortable.php

On topic for ET3AA...

The last upload to ClubLog was Jan 25, around the time the stateside guys left. It appears the locals operated on 12M FT8 on the weekend of Jan 28 & 29. Maybe they'll stick around and be weekend warriors, we'll see. Hope they make use of ClubLog. Their starting date is 1994, but I have confirmed contacts in 2001 and 2011 that aren't in that log. Guess with a club station, some are good log keepers and some aren't.
