Sticky side of the tape faces the cable.

I'm glad you told AI5BC which side of electrical tape goes face down. He told me in a private message has has been doing it wrong for the past 25 years.

Yes, I'm familiar with adhesive tape, and its proper application. I used it once years ago when we ran out of bailing wire and mastic.

My question was centered on the tendency of some adhesives to smear across the coax after a period of time. I'm sure we've all encountered this before. And referring back to an earlier post, I suppose "sticking' with a name brand made in the USA would be the best approach to avoid that problem.

Thanks for the comments guys.

This cracks me right up.   What's next...double sided red tape ?

Most Plenum rated cable is colored orange or something other than black.
I know there is an ORANGE LMR400 and LMR600 Made by Times Microwave.
It is available as 50 ohm cable.  I use it for installs in locations requiring plenum cable.

Not cheap, but not nearly as expensive as RG393 or RG142.
There is also a newer LMR240 that is bright red.  Again, plenum rated.  That might be something to look at as well.
