I want to honor my ham radio father
« on: January 31, 2023, 11:54:19 AM »

Hello there, this is a strange request, but I want to somehow memorialize my father in the ham radio world but have no way to begin or who to turn to. He’s in hospice right now and I would love to find a way to put something out in the airwaves for him. If anyone has a way to help me, it would mean the world to me and my family.

http://www.arrl.org/scholarship-descriptions
A very common way to memorialize hams is to create a scholarship in their name.

You could also sponsor an ARRL contest plaque in memory of your father. My brother (KD8LL) and I did that a few years ago in memory of our father (N8CVH).

You could also do as I did to honor my ham dad. As a direct relative get his call as a vanity. That way the call stays in the family and can still be heard on the air.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. They will all be considered, as Ham Radio was such a big part of his life.

Obtain his callsign.

Use his equipment for on air contacts.
