congrats a huge effort.  i used to the it was unattainable but i have learnt it is possible honour role that is no1 is too hard atm unless you have been at it for more than 12 years
It's unattainable if you're just starting now, but if you've managed to snag about a dozen entities that have only recently been closed by the various authorities then there's definitely a chance of making HR as it's now constituted within 20-25 years.

Night gathers and now my watch begins. It shall not end until I reach Top of the Honor Roll

Great times are at hand, and soon there will be DX for all—although more for some than for others.

I don’t think there was ever a period when achieving #1 on the HR took less than 11 years. In fact, I think that is still the quickest anyone has done it.

While it may take longer now, it’s still attainable with patience just as it always was.

Congratulations!! That is an awesome accomplishment and no doubt a huge effort.

I'm sitting at 319 current now, if I work 3Y that will be 320.. then 10 to go for HR. A handful of elusive low hanging fruit still out there (3W, T8, V8, XX).. then the rest are all places many of us are waiting on..

Congrats Paul! So which contact put you over the top? Mine was TL7M (Central African Republic). I was lucky in that I had many of the current difficult activations (Kure, Johnston, Palmyra) under my belt when I started my DX'ing back in the early 70's. It took me a long time to get to HR because I was inactive for many years.

Eleven more. Honor Roll threshold is 331, not 330.

3W is easy enough--just worked/confirmed Vietnam yesterday at 1519z on 20m FT8 (XV5TB), and XV1X is on a lot too. T8 worked two weeks ago, but V8 is a bit tougher. XX9 hasn't really been on for a while, and with the situation in China I'm not sure when it will be back.

Ahhh...

The last two stations that got me over the top to 331 were VK0AI and FT8WW

i chased VK0AI for 6 months and managed  to work him on 40m FT8...getting up at 4 am when propagation was best in that direction...
my wife would see VK0AI pop up on my iphone  alerts and thought it said VODKA
she was beginning to think i had a drinking problem
so glad i got the QSL card to show her...not VODKA  ;-))...that was number 330

THiery at FT8WW worked him on 30m after a couple days into his operation...number 331

i had not worked a new in over 5 years before all of that...
nothing was in the pipeline that i needed

OH...by the way the antenna to work both of them was an 145ft long OCF at 60ft high
Radio is Flex 6600m and amp is elecraft KPA500...

other antenna is Tennadyne T8, 8 element LPDA at 45ft...covers 20 thru 6m
and
43ft vertical as backup to the OCF

getting to this point did indeed take about 60 years...with life events happening along the way
my first dx was as a novice on the 15m cw...cuba and england being my first dx contacts at 14 years old
with a folded dipole at 15 feet and 15 watts

when i got my General, the whole dx world opened up to me...
and
 heathkit DX100 (100watts) and NC183D receiver
 and
still same folded dipole but at 25ft as i climbed the flag pole in my back yard to get it higher

as life got better...so did my station...as at times when life did not go so well  so the station went
so this has been an up and down and up gain journey...

now at 75 years old,
i am sure glad i have had ham radio as my hobby all these years
never a dull moment...
and now
i just dont climb flag poles or towers any more...gravity is no longer my friend ;-))

Very good Paul! I did manage to work VK0AI on 40M FT8 on about the last day of his operation. It wasn't a new one, but glad to get the bandfill on 40. And I did manage to work FT8WW on 20 & 30 (CW & FT8) so it was nice to get the extra padding on HR in case they decide to delete one :) I'm about 5 countries away from #1 HR but I don't think I will get them in my lifetime. I don't think Scaffold Reef or Pratas Island will ever be activated again, at least while the Chinese government has territorial claims on either entity. And I guess there is always a chance with North Korea, I don't see it coming up anytime soon. Oh well, I'm happy with what I've achieved so far with my big gun station of my 3-el SteppIR :)
