High-Rise Condo Antenna: Success
« on: February 02, 2023, 02:25:11 PM »

I have conquered the challenge of operating HF from a high-rise condo.  After experimenting with many antenna configurations, I found a compromise which I like.  Please see my QRZ page for details.

Congrats. My only concern would be the mech integrity of the ant itself.  IE: not falling 250' straight down.  I would imagine that the wind at the 250' level, could be wicked at times.  Or in other parts of the country where heavy wet snow / ice could be present.... then wind on top of that.

Gary, that is an excellent solution for a condo/apartment antenna and congratulations on a great WRTC event score.

Good observations, James.   The mag mount is on the inside of the railing and the antenna is screwed in from the outside of the railing.  I will only fall if the building falls.  Thanks for keeping me safe.

KH6AQ: Thanks the the compliment, David.  Not only am I antenna-challenged, but the effective radiated power is estimated to be about 35 watts.  The receiving stations must have excellent antennas to be able to capture my femtowatts.
