I have read on eham comments that call an end fed an entry level antenna or worse.

Anybody that says that isn't worth the paper his license is printed on.  Pay no attention to such colon discharge.

The "basis" of all antennas are either dipoles/doublets (Hertz) or end-fed (Marconi).  Whether the antenna is a ground mounted vertical, semi-random-length wire, EFHW, ground plane, or any other antenna worked against ground (other than the EFHW), it is an end fed antenna.

No antenna is "entry level," nor is it garbage if built correctly.  We can't all afford multiband quads or yagis, sitting atop a 100 foot tower.  We make do with what we have available.  I run 50-100 watts (depending on the mode) into a 40 foot end-fed wire.  I get more than my share of DX when I go looking for it.  I won't override the big guns with big linears and towers with quads on top, but I really don't care.  Ham radio is my hobby, not my profession.  Just have fun and learn.  That's what ham radio is all about.

Thanks, just great for someone with a small back yard who wants to make the yard even less usable and cover it with radials. I've seen some set ups with half circle radials. I also saw just one picture of the antenna as a chimney mount, I'll go back and take another look to see how the radials were attached. Seems every antenna is compromise unless you have a football field sized yard.

The radials will disappear under the grass in a few months when laid on the grass and stapled down with a few lawn staples. you will never seen them.

I did watch one video and something they didn't touch on was the mast, in one picture all closed up it looks like the typical pull up antenna that you would find on a desktop fm broadcast radio,
Of course I know his is much larger but is there a screw or a locking device, I can't see one, that keeps the sections up from collapsing.

Hose clamps covered with vinyl tubing keep the sections from collapsing.

Neither will your lawn mower.  ;D

Thanks for those encouraging words, i was reading some of the frustrations of Bouvet dxpedition and someone made a comment about nubes using end fed antennas to jam the band.  So from other things I read the end fed was getting a bad name. for me I think I chose it due to the ability to string it up hi enough from metal and ground to put it simply.

Interesting.  If an end fed antenna can "jam the band", it must be a very good antenna then. :)
