Yes - MFJ has stopped including a printed manual. Not sure when they started this practice but they have not included a printed manual with their products for quite a few years.
I like the idea of being able to download manuals as .pdf's. I do so for every piece of Ham equipment I own and keep them on the station laptop. That way, no matter where I happen to be, at home, on a Ham vacation, portable operations, Field Day, et cetera, I have the manuals available if / when I need them.
If I need some portion of a manual printed out for quick reference (like the various combination of key strokes to perform certain tasks on a MFJ Auto-tuner), it is easy enough to do. And I do not have to have all the extra pages like safety notes, warranty info, et cetera there in the way to thumb through.
And lastly, I do not have to take up shelf space to store all those manuals.
I do like the idea of going paperless for everything I can (bills, statements, manuals) because it reduces all the clutter that would otherwise accumulate. And sparing a tree or two is a nice side benefit.
