I apologize for the way I phrased my question. Let me do it over.
For years, I've logged into my PayPal account using my email address and password. Now they require an email address, a password and in addition, a mobile phone number as a second step authentication.
I tried calling them by telephone a long time ago but was unsuccessful. After reading your suggestion EU, I decided to try again. This time I got through and after jumping through hoops got a very nice lady who requested information I did not have.
After getting the requested information I called back and this time got a man with an accent that I simply couldn't understand. I called again later and this time got a woman with a high pitched voice, again, who I couldn't understand.
So, I guess I'll keep calling until I find someone who I can understand ... or just terminate my credit union account.
This is one facet of getting old, being severely hearing impaired and living alone.
