Finally, after 8 years, I can hear the middle east!
« on: February 14, 2023, 08:28:58 AM »

Got my license in 2014.  Didn't know I was on the downhill side of the solar cycle.  It's real exciting to see the upper bands opening up like this.  Indonesia and the middle east have been very difficult to even hear from my MN QTH.  Now I hear them almost every day on 10 or 15M.

I think the next few years are going to be more fun than ever.  Need better antennas for 10 and 15 but thats also part of the fun.

In 48 years of 10 meter operation this is the best that I have seen on 10 meters either FM, SSB or CW and no FT8 required anymore.

Nepal 9N7AA and two Mongolian JT1's plus a dozen Thailand, China, Singapore and Vietnan hams have been active the past week after 0200 UTC on 10 meter ssb and dually the same hams are also found on 10 cw working as far east as Colorado at Nite.

In the mornings from out west it has been SSB and CW to the middle east, eastern Europe, Russia , east, west and southern AFrica and even a lone 3B station in the Indian ocean on 10 CW.

Anymore the South Americans, the VK Aussies and other pacific and most of western European countries are the norm lately and more like working locals these days with the smorgasborg of contacts on SSB, CW and even some 10 FM to Africa, Central Asia and some Indian ocean hams being the fun stuff on 10 meters.
