POTA, how to submit new park for certification?
« on: February 15, 2023, 10:16:49 AM »

I've gone over almost every document on the POTA website but couldn't find an answer to: How to submit a new park for POTA certification?

Thanks in advance.

If you have suggestions for parks (National, State or some other State and Federal lands) contact the local POTA mapping coordinator for that area.  They take info about existing POTA-listed areas, too.

Go to the main page and click on "US Mapping Representatives" in the 4th green box.

https://parksontheair.com/

Parks On The Air isn't adding any NEW areas right now, though.

last post i read on the FB group was that NO new parks were being considered... could be wrong though... here is the post:

Attention:

As the POTA helpdesk, POTA Country administrators, and POTA leaders get a lot of questions currently on adding new parks. Let me make clear our statement how it stands within our documentation.

QUALIFICATION OF PARKS, TRAILS, AND RIVERS FOR ADDITION TO PARKS ON THE AIR

1.   All new parks must be owned and operated by a State/Provincial or Federal/National agency. We do not include parks that have part/shared ownership, sponsorship, or are operated by private organizations or local governments

2.   To be considered for inclusion, the park must meet the above requirements and offer an informational website detailing current boundary maps.

3.   POTA does not create sub-parks within existing parks if both parks are owned and operated by the same State/Provincial or Federal/National agency.

Please be aware that we are temporarily holding the entry of most new parks in the US, with an exception for newly commissioned parks.

And before this facebook message becomes endless. Yes, there have been exceptions in the past, but they will not be accepted now anymore.

The above means in simple English, Government national parks or Province parks only, no castles, islands, or city parks.

If this means only 6 parks in a country then so be it.

If you have still questions, please contact me via PM or pa0kgb@gmail.com

AGAIN, no exceptions, so no need to ask.

Kind regards
