Offical vehicle has an antenna farm.
« on: February 15, 2023, 06:50:51 PM »

Its so unusual to see an antenna on a car or service truck, the gas company has radios as a back up but even police cars barely show an antenna.
I saw an white official ford explorer, it had an an antenna farm on the roof, it had a 4 or more those pill bottle sized antennas, a tall vhf antenna with a elongated base, 2 more 12" whips  maybe uhf and a 3" stubby wire antenna, as well as alot of band aid sized cans on the roof, maybe lights.
I don't know why that car would need so many ways to communicate, I'd love to know the agency
I wonder if the explorer came with a option to suppress rf to its electronics.

OK... unknown car with unknown owner and with unknown antennas, and we are supposed  to guess its purpose? Did you get a license plate?  It's white.

Why?

If the person whom owns the callndo ant want it known whom he is, don't display the call in public.

Define official, had the exempt plates, later model with push bars, led lights built in. My best guess it could have been something to do with lojack as its possible that the cans were for direction finding.
I said, I'd love to know what agency that is. I wasn't demanding a guess. There are so many techs out here, its likey someone who sets up a car like that might speak up.

Sounds like an interagency interop command post.

Lots of departments and agencies remain on analog systems, either as primary users or as backup. Equipping a vehicle like this ensures the ability to talk to any of them.

Why would I do that? He posted it on the internet to be shared with the world. I shared it.

What the OP describes being a white unmarked Ford PU and the antenna arrangement sounds like a hunter for VZW, ATT, or T-Mobile looking for interference. Where these pill antennas at the corners or geometric pattern. Most government agencies vehicle are black, commercial vehicle fleets are white to make the Employment Prevention Agency happy.
