I bought my wife a Yaesu FTM6000 for Christmas (yes, she's a licensed operator). We just got back from a month long trip and I decided to program the radio for her last night. I downloaded the Yaesu software according to directions and followed them step by step. The problem comes up when I try to connect to a com port. The computer tells me the device is unrecognized and will not connect.
I'm using an older Macbook that I'm running Bootcamp and Windows 10 on. Every other Windows program runs perfectly on it. When I connect my Anytone 578 or 878 HTs to the computer with the Anytone CPS I don't have any problem with the com port, so I know it works. And no, I'm not buying a Windows computer - the Mac works fine for every single other program, this seems to be an issue with just this radio.
I googled the problem and tried everything recommended to deal with it, nothing works. I did notice that there is a small switch on the front of the FTM6000 under where the USB cable plugs in. One position says normal, the other says update. There's no explanation in the Yaesu owner's manual about how or when to use the switch. I tried it in both positions and the computer is still returning an error message that it doesn't recognize the device. I went into settings on the computer and even added another com port but that didn't make any difference.
Any FTM6000 owners of Mac users running Bootcamp/Win10 have any suggestions? I did manage to program half a dozen repeaters in the radio manually through the microphone keypad and menu/buttons on the faceplate, it's just kind of tedious doing it that way.
Thanks
