I've read thru the manual and I must be missing it.

I see how in the menu structure I can choose to either show frequency or memory name when showing memory channels...so i can display either frequency or name IF I go thru the menu...

And I know how to toggle between VFO and memory...

What I'm asking is lets suppose I have frequency 146.625 saved in ch 1....and I've named it "home"....on my other radios, there is usually a key that will allow me to view either of the two...so if i were in memory channel mode and "home" was showing, if someone asked me what frequency I was on I could press a key without going thru a menu to it would then show 146.625.....if I wanted to go back to the name I'd press that key again, and "home: would now show up....

I cant see how to do that on my icom 2730a.

Thank you.

I know my wife's Yaesu FTM6000 does it by simply pushing the tuning knob.  I have a 2730A in my Jeep and I never thought to try to check the frequency setting on the fly.  I just went through the entire instruction manual and I can't find anywhere that explains how to toggle between channel name and channel frequency with a simple button push.  That being said, the Yaesu instruction manual didn't explain that toggle option, I found it by accident.  Maybe try pushing on the channel selector knob and see if it does anything?  When I get out to my Jeep I'll try it too.

Pressing the monitor button, which opens the squelch, will show frequency on some radios.

OK, just went out an played with my radio.  Pressing the monitor button does toggle the display from the channel name to the frequency.  But - it shows the uplink frequency not the downlink frequency for the channel.  For example, my home channel is set to my local repeater on Gunstock Mountain (NH).  The repeater transmit frequency/downlink is 146.985.  The receive/uplink frequency is 146.385.  When I press the monitor key it changes from the channel alph name to the frequency but it shows 146.385.  If you can remember to add or subtract the 6kHz on UHF then you can figure it out from there.  The screen shows whether the repeater offset if + or -, look for the Dup + or Dup -.  In my case my home repeater is a Dup -, therefore it subtracts the 6kHz from the repeater downlink and displays that number.
