White Noise Yaesu FT-1000MP

Hi everyone,

I have a Yaesu FT-1000MP and I have installed the white noise reduction mod and the Inrad filter for smoother SSB. So far no luck. The white noise is still a problem.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What white noise?
Do you have this white noise when connected to a known good dummy load?
How are you measuring it?  Explain please.

:)I have an 1000mp and dont hear much annoying white noise.
If the white noise is internally generated then there is an issue, check by unplugging the antenna.
Also earlier rigs did have a bit of white noise, not much to worry about.
Only with later rigs, quieter devices were used , and I suspect front end gain was reduced, hence the silly 'S'meters on some new rigs, but they are quieter.
Center your shift and width, make sure settings are normal. Check if USB / LSB sound the same when toggling.

:)OK, interesting to read up about the white noise mod.
It makes sense!.. Maybe try the IF gain setting in the menu and see if that helps.
