3B7M - Agalega & St. Brandon
« on: February 25, 2023, 02:42:08 PM »

Looks like they just started -- Big signal on 10.105 CW but working mostly JA and EU at the moment.

Good luck to all who need them!

They are 1st class operators and they know how to build antennas, including lower bands. I'm sure they will make many people very happy.

Just worked them on 30m CW. Absolutely booming signal on my 40m dipole: https://youtu.be/rDzF0ZSV-Nw

Some on the cluster are claiming it is a pirate, however. Fingers crossed that this QSO is good as 3B7 is an ATNO for me -- #277 worked.

Worked quickly on 30M.  Very loud to rotary dipole @50' and a very good CW op.

Not a ATNO but fun to work, thank you!

I can use them on 10m, as well as phone and digital.  Can also use them on 80 but probably won't get them there with my lousy antenna.

You may want to consider putting up a temporary Inverted L for 80M to work a big operation like this.  May also help to see if there is a band peak at local sunrise or sunset.

Booming in here on 15 at 1230z. Fairly large but well-behaved pileup of EU stations... but I managed to sneak through.

I would like them on 80 too. 10 would also be nice. I already have 3B7A on 40.

I have a loaded/shortened vertical for 80 TX and a Mag Loop for RX. With the kind of signals they're putting out I should hopefully not have much trouble hearing them.

Need them on 160, 12, and 10.  Just bagged them on 10 SSB.  28500 listening on 28540.  Pretty much sitting on 28540 listening.

Good disciplined YL op.

Easily worked on 10 ssb earlier.  Sounded like all of EU was calling them.

Congrats. I got 'em on 12 FT8 but couldn't get through on 10 SSB. I hope I can get that band in the log during the week. I did manage to work them on 15 CW and 17 Phone relatively easily, however. I find it surprising how wild the pileups are after another big operation only five years ago!

I'm curious why St. Brandon is so rare. Are there strict entry restrictions or is it just the cost of transportation/accommodation? It took six years to work the first one after I got on, but in 2007 there were actually two DXpeditions to St. Brandon. Then nothing until 2018, and now this one.
