Do a lot people still need VP6? Almost 85,000 QSOs were made by VP6R a few years ago. Regardless, hope he has fun operating from there.

Any DX station that is 59+ on any phone band will generate a pileup that just gets bigger and bigger.
Lots of hams have noise issues and need DX they can hear through the noise.

Probably should remove it from the DXCC list, for ....reasons....

That interesting... VP6R was in Oct 2019, and VP6T was in Jan-Feb 2012. Yet VP6T made only 56,300 QSOs. And look how each was situated in Cycle 24. VP6T was between the two peaks, and the cycle was near bottom out when VP6R was on the air. The red markers may be off a bit, but close enough to show the difference.

Each operation used the Leader Board function. I pigged out with 17 slots for VP6T, and didn't make it in the top 100. The top players got 21 slots.

Didn't call when VP6R was on. I had already stopped playing the Piggy Board game. But the ones who did play did much better than anyone pigging out with VP6T. A lot of statesiders got 27 slots this time.

Two points...
(1) Propagation can be strange at times.
(2) As a reformed piggy, I can say there's hope for the piggies out there.

My best Pitcairn Island qso's were  with Tom Christian (VR6TC)...back in 1980 of course...

would often catch Tom on 15m SSB...

not a resident of Pitcairn then not real Pitcairn qso   ;-))

Just saying...enjoy DX WHEN and WHERE it happens

I have a QSL card from VR6TC (Tom Christian) from a SSB contact made on April 23, 1977. I tried to post a picture of it, but can't figure how to do it.

Never worked Tom, but worked VR6DB & VR6TY during the 90s. I believe they are also residents and maybe also descendants of Bounty mutineers. And worked a few guest operators prior to the DXpedition in 2012.

Just think about being a young single man there. The latest I can find shows their population to be around 50, so the female population should be about half that. When you eliminate those who are already taken, those who are too young, and close relatives, that leaves some slim pickings. Or maybe they go to New Zealand or elsewhere to find a mate.

I need 40 and 80 for some reason.   I guess I didn't apply myself, but I doubt he'll be qrv on them.  Gives me some apples to pick next time they bloom.
